The Middle School years are some of the most challenging years for those students within your ministry. Middle School students sometimes can have a bad reputation within our ministries. The Impact of Social Media in Ministry

In the days we live in, the words social media brings negative and positive emotions to pastors. I love social media. I think there are things within social media that can become negative. Using social media in ministry can become a game changer and open the doors to allowing visitors and prospective church members learn more about your ministry.

Importance of Being in the Word

As a college student, I have learned the importance of disciplining yourself to get things done. To get things done, I have to write out all of my assignments, make a schedule on when I’ll get things done, and set aside time for hanging out with friends and family. If I don’t, I’ll catch myself slacking off, procrastinating, and forgetting work. These lead to more stress, which leads to me getting sick and having to cut out time with friends. I learned that it took both a will and effort to get through college well.  That same concept is applied to our faith. We have to spiritually discipline ourselves to read God’s Word, to pray, and to commune with other believers.

Understanding Your Students Part 3

I started writing this blog a few weeks ago with a goal in mind for all student ministries in America. I think that Generation Z stands at the doorsteps of our church and community in need of wanting more from our ministries. I know that may seem very vague or general, but students do not want to be part of something that we did in the church 15-20 years ago. They want something that has been written or created for them.

Understanding your Students Part 1

I have been wondering for some time about the students that come into our youth room every week. I wonder what battles they are facing, or what they bring to the building weekly. I began to look into some books on Generation Z because I wanted to understand better the generation that sits in our buildings regularly.

Reflections on Thailand

Last semester, I had the amazing opportunity to go Thailand through Clayton King Ministries. While I was there, I got to experience all kinds of different things and God taught me a lot. I got to do fun things like riding an elephant and releasing floating lanterns from the rooftop of the church, but I also did some challenging things like trying to have conversational practice with a semi-interested group of high schoolers and surviving a car ride while sick. I even learned seven different words or sayings within the week! However, what God taught me while I was there is what is going to stick with me the rest of my life. I’ll sum it up in three little points that I’ll go on to elaborate: patience, encouragement, and teamwork.

The Impact of Ministry Win

The Impact of Ministry Win

Tomorrow my book, Ministry Win, releases on Amazon and on our website. I wanted to use today’s blog to share how churches can be impacted by Ministry Win. I have been serving in Youth Ministry since 2003, but around 2014 I began to study more in depth how Student Ministries in America function. Why? Because I felt like at that moment that Student Ministry in America was created to be more than just numbers and programs.

A Growing Summer

Last summer was an interesting one to say the least. In the Spring of 2018, I got a call from my youth pastor towards the end of my Spring semester to see if I would be interested in doing a Summer internship under him. I accepted that offer happily, excited to serve the youth group that I was a part of throughout high school. A month into that internship, my youth pastor was called to another church that was nearly nine hours away! Of course, I was bummed, but I was looking forward to what God was going to do both in his life at his new church and at the church I had been serving. I’m glad that I stuck it out and stayed with it because I have learned many things over the Summer. Here’s some reasons why I think this internship was worth it.
